Trying to install a SERT (not a Super SERT) in my '05 SEEG.  Hooked it up (via USB/Serial adapter) and it read the correct VIN and ECM numbers after choosing read ECM.  When I started to program the selected file, it got as far as 25% - installing Bootreader and then quit.  It read "Bootloader install failed".  Tried several times and it would not go past this step.  When I went to exit it gave me the Install incomplete statement and told me to take it to the dealer as my ECM my be corrupted.

HELP!!!!!

Chris

You are going to need to take your ECM along with bike serial number and bike milage to your dealer to have them reprogram the ECM with Digital Tech. Similar occurrence happened to me, i got charged one hour shop time. Also, If you are going to stick with your version of SERT find a computer with serial port and use the serial port, or go with MasterTune. Same product as SERT but a WHOLE LOT BETTER, and easier,, not to mention their awesome support. And i believe they offer USB now, if not any USB converter works fine.  :2vrolijk_21:

If you have an original SERT it can be upgraded for $100.  There is a link on their website to download a program to verify if you current SERT can be upgraded.  Actually I think it just verifies that your SERT matches the VIN of your bike.  I did this, sent the 'dongle' back to them and within about a week I had the modified 'dongle' returned along with the TTS software.  Great product and really expands the capabilities of the original SERT.  Highly recommended and as you have seen their customer service is top notch.

I use a lot of test equipment on my laptop and the firewall will mess you up in a lot of cases. This may not be the problem here but it wouldn't hurt to turn the firewall off while you are doing the procedure. JMHO

This failure is almost always due to an incompatible USB serial adapter.  Do yourself a favor and buy the TTS cable, it is tested with the SERT and all Windows versions and works well.  If you also upgrade your SERT to the TTS, you also get a more reliable system and the ability to convert your '05 to closed loop should you desire.

There are other USB-serial adapters that work, but TTS does not test any of them.  Probably some users here can let you know what worked for them.

I was curious how everyone is liking the mastertune compared to what else is out there.
