RSD/PM Air Cleaners- better, or hopefully not worse?
« on: August 05, 2010, 10:19:14 PM »

I always liked the looks of these, and I came across a used one on the hd forum for half the cost of new, so I went for it.

I realize the stock Venitilator (on a 2009 SERG) provides very good air flow, so I am hoping the RSD, with it's K&N filter an all, at least flows similar to the ventilator. I'm not expecting to see much performance gain, if any, but I just don't want it to change the way the bike runs now, because like I mentioned in another thread, Fullsac's map for my combo is pretty much bang on.

Any experiences with the RSD's?

Didn't know what it was until showing the pic.  Forgot RSD was Roland Sands.  The Sands air cleaners were never my thing (not that it matters) but I do like the twin cam rocker covers and cam cover they offer.

over here the K&N is believed to deliver even a little better airflow than the Ventilator - but I couldn't find any proof for this belief. Perhaps someone can deliver hard facts  ;)

I like the RS air cleaner, nice look, a little expensive, but so is everything else for a HD.

I figure a K&N filter as a rule will flow better than a paper element, but this round one likely has less surface area than the Ventilator does....I'm guessing they both might be pretty much equal, in any case.

The other thing I like about the looks is that you can see more of the engine.

I picked it up for $230.00 shipped to Canada- a decent deal I think.

Well not a look I would like on my bike. Seems like it will look good on your bike. Might also look good on a 2010 Blacked out UC. But hey it dosen't matter what we think as long as you like it.
