Hi idle problem then starts to miss after rebuild
« on: July 21, 2010, 11:26:47 PM »

On my 06 seuc just did the top end on it.  Never unhooked any of the electrical stuff except for the iac connector on the intake so i could get the intake bolts off.  When i got the bike all back together.  When if first started up immediatly went to 3k rpm then would eventually come down to around 1800-2k then after another minute or so kinda started missing like wasn't getting fuel.  The only code i pulled was po505 which is idle loss.  Not sure what all to look for.  If it is something electrical or something else.  In the morning i will try spraying the intake while running to see if i have an intake leak.  Other than that not sure what else to be tracing down since that was the only code.  The pn it gave was pn 5176.

Oh and when i would first turn the ignition on the usuall engine light comes on then goes off, but after about 15 secs or so it would come back on again then would go off.  Then after you start the bike after about 10 sec or so the engine light would come on again.

I didn't see one.  Didn't take anything off the intake but the one sensor then put it back on.  Can't find anything else not hooked up or off.  All i can think of is maybe an intake to head leak.  No telling with all the electronics.

Well i finally got out and checked for leaks.  The front intake seal is leaking which i was afraid of.  Another dumb question.  I didn't think of setting the heads up for the intake before i torqued them down like you do the older bikes.  didn't think it would come back and bite me in the ass.  I noticed that the flange seal on the intake on both sides weren't completly again the inner part of the intake manifold.  I thought since it was a tapered seal that it should still seal it.  Or does that sliding flange have to be butted up against the back of the intake?  I really don't want to rip the engine apart again to try and move the heads closer.

Okay got it idling fine.  The intake gasket got a little kink in it somehow.  So replaced it and not no more codes.  Now just going to finish it up and go for a ride and hope it doesn't explode.  Thanks for your help everyone.
