Leaky oil cap
« on: July 30, 2010, 10:59:59 AM »

Since the gas cap leak was posted I thought i'd ask if anyone besides me has an oil cap that leaks? I replaced the OEM one with the analog temp gage and that one leaks also. I'm tired of cleaning oil streaks off my oil tank. And no, it is not overfilled.

No leaks here so far, other than the massive stream of oil I had through the air cleaner -- once I did the first oil change it cleaned itself up and hasn't happened since...

I also replaced the stock cap / dipstick with the analog gauge. It has not leaked at all. Did you check the rubber as well as the hole to make sure there is no paint in the hole or nicks in the rubber? I think you implied that the stock one leaked also, so I'd look in the hole. Mine is painted and nice and smooth. Good luck.

No oil or gas leaks here EZ. Did have to clean the oil from my 1K change that was coughing from the AC. Pulled about a cup of oil out if the bike and she's good to go.

We too have the analog temp gauge in the oil tank. Nice and snug.

However...  there's always a "but"...  we are experiencing some flaking/pealing powder coat on the left side of the motor case just below the rear cylinder.

Mine is not snug, neither was the OEM one. I think there should be a little puff when pulled out but nothing. As far as the powercoat, I have several very small nicklike spots on my cases, but no peeling YET.

No leaks here either. I am using the digital gague as well which fits nice and tight.  It looks great and is very convenient for checking oil level and temperature.
