We (Germans) are still thankful of what he has done (intentionally or by accident?) to our country, his politic has finally led to the fall of the iron curtain and the reunification of our nation.
He defintely deserves a special respect.
By the way .... it is been reported that the largest remaining piece of the Berlin wall is in his library.

 He was a good friend of my grandmother, and I was a great fan. I have portraits and autographed notes on the living room wall.
