Rinehart True Duals Burn Potential!!!
« on: July 16, 2010, 04:41:41 PM »

I recentely put a set of true duals on my 2007 SE Ultra. I think the bend on the LH header pipe is dangerouse for the passenger. I put the spacers on the floorboard and it is better butt still sucks. The passenger is going to have to be aware of their leg at all times to prevent to being burned. I emailed Rinehart and they pretty well said after six generations of changing these pipes they are where they need to be. In other words I should by a solo seat and skip the whole touring concept. This is a pain buy a bike with a chitty motor and a set of pipes that will torch the passengers legs. Neither manufacturer without a clue.

CJ, had same issue with my 05 SEEG. Wife melted lots of rubber on the Rinehart left side pipe. However, they did have the best sound for me. Looking at installing same on my 09 CUSE4.

It's something lots of us have lived with for years and they've sold plenty of them so I don't see any changes coming.

I don't think so, I've got rubber boot marks on all the ones I have a dual saddle on!  ;D

At least you got a response from them- I emailed them about the "improved" rear header bracket kit I got.  It doesn't fit my CUSE, when the instructions clearly state FL models.  I didn't even get a response.

Interesting.  I saw a listing on eBay for a 2008 FLHRSE4 where the guy had installed Rinehart True Duals and mufflers...he says he got a bad burn and switched to V&H True Duals, but kept the Rinehart cans.  I have V&H true duals on my '04 RK, and have burnt rubber boot heels...go figure.
