I ordered the wrong oil, will it be ok to use?
« on: August 27, 2010, 02:06:04 AM »

Hi all,
So i decided to switch fluids in my 09 springer to redline products. When i went to order it i thought i picked the 20w50 powerpack. I had selected the 20w60 on accident. I still plan to go with the 20w50 in the future. Just wondering if i can use the 20w60 for this oil change since i have it. Just worried because i live in Wisconsin so the weather will be getting colder. I think 50 is about as cold as it will be when i have the bike running. I would think it would be fine but i just don't want to thick off oil for the weather. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You will be fine running 20w60.  There are a few on here that run that in their bikes.

A friend of my brother in law used that oil in his bike, motor made funny noises and they pulled it apart.
Seems the heavy 60wt caused the bearings to skate and took out the lower end!!!

Just kidding, couldn't resist! You will be fine, I live n the South, and have used that oil also, like it!

I don't disagree w/ the comments but they're all southern fellas and it's just plain hotter down there. Why not get some 20-50 and save the heavier stuff for next summer?

I ues the 20-60 in the summer and 20-50 in the winter. The 20-60 does pour out of the bottle much slower than the 20-50.
