Headlight Cover/Shield
« on: March 02, 2006, 11:00:23 AM »

I've heard the to replace the headlight on our 06 CUSE's is about $500. :o

I'm thinking about trying to find some sort of cover or shield like some of the BMW bikes run to prevent a rock or something breaking my headlight. Does anyone know where to start looking and/or do you already have something thats works fine and lasts a long time? [smiley=confused5.gif]

Don't know of any cover but the complete light kit is only $162.95.

Here's the info from HD's site:

Dual Bulb Halogen Headlamp Kit

The Dual Bulb Halogen Headlamp features advanced reflector optics and separate bulbs for high and low beam functions. The euro-inspired projector beam styling combines a state-of-the-art look with a CAD designed faceted reflector bowl that is optimized for crisp patterns and light cut-off. The single upper bulb functions in low beam, and both upper and lower bulb operate in high beam. The low beam setting produces a wide curb-to-curb light pattern, and the high beam adds focused light down the center of the lane without compromising width. Kit includes housing, 55 watt low beam halogen lamp, 35 watt high beam halogen lamp and all necessary mounting hardware. Does not meet ECE regulations.

This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.

The guy must think the bike has the HID light on it.  From the front they look somewhat similar to what your actual light looks like.  The HID light in it's complete package is up in that price range.  Have no idea what just the reflector/housing unit would cost.

Maybe the mech meant "including fitting at the Dealer's labour rates"?

Does he think the fairing has to come off to do this?

Shouldn't do - if I remember right the bucket is held by 5 self tappers from the front?

Cheers

I think what you're looking for is a protective film that goes over the headlight. I'm sure there are several companies that make products for this but the one that comes to mind is 3M. Go to http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/motorcycle-headlight/ for an article about this subject. Hope this helps to answer your question.
