CB Radio Harmon Kardon
« on: August 23, 2010, 10:49:35 AM »

I have a CB in my 08 Ultra, I was curious about how much power it was putting out and what the SWR was. I checked it with a meter and found that the thing is only putting out 1/2 watt and the SWR is at 3. Has anyone else checked theres? The manual states it should be transmitting around 2 to 4 watts and the SWR should be below 2. Anyone else had any experience with this???

My 2010 Limited had a bad antenna from the factory.  a 3:1 SWR would be reflecting most of the power back to the radio, so you'd not see as much output.  4 watts is legal max, so a 2:1 SWR would give you 2 watts.  3:1 would be lower still.

I found a better antenna helps tremendously. I bought a bunch of different Firestiks to see which would work best, and the 1/4 mile range jumped up over 3 miles immediately. Once they are tuned, they work great!
