I think you are both correct. While out today we got to talking to an HD tech about the handling issues. He mentioned the same thing you did HW. The progressive springs are tighter so it will may it stiffer or sportier. Got to running a time line on it. The very first time I rode in the mountains was a month after I bought it. Had Bitubo's on the rear and stock springs on the front. Don't remember any issues. Changed to Progressives on the rear a month after that (didn't understand how to adjust the three settings on the Bitubo's) so I could have a more simple adjustment. The dealership installed the front springs a couple of months later for me.

Now the decision: spend $2600.00 on new suspension at Traxxion (front and rear), change the brackets on the floorboards to the cvo (which may take changing the boards as well?? ), have my Corbin seat reworked some (long story but part of the issue as well), or....buy a new CVO RG?  :nixweiss:

Guess I could have much bigger "problems"...  :P

Here's another route you might consider: If you kept all the OEM hardware, go back to a stock suspension (IMO its a damn good set-up). Then sell all the aftermarket suspension parts on ebay. You'll get 50-60% of your $ back and it'll be alot cheaper than the loss you'll take trading your bike in on a new one.

I considered "upgrading" the suspension on my 2010 SEUC and was talked out of it by some of the guys on this forum. I'm glad I kept it stock because I've found the handling is really "sharp and tight" without changing out a thing. Just a matter of keeping the tire pressure to spec and the rear air suspension at 40+psi. The stock suspension provides lot's of clearance and the handling in twisties is simply superb with the factory designed suspension.

Good luck either way.

Good idea. I do have the OEM parts and I have considered it. I thought the rear shocks (for pre -09 I read anyway, I haven't checked the 10 manual) say no more than 30? Did they change it?

Rob, I had a '08 SERK with air shocks and the highest they recommended was 30 psi on two up riding.  When I traded that in on my new '09 SERG I set it the same as the '08 and it rode poorly.  I read the manual on the '09 and they had raised the psi up to 50 on two up riding, or a heavy load.

I'm not going to say they didn't change the shocks to gain that much more air pressure capability, so will a '07 or '08 take 50 psi, don't know.  I do know that my '09 will handle 55 psi with my wife and I on without any issues.

Of course the stock shock still suck the big one, but I've read the posts about changing fluids and I think this weekend I'm going to go to the Amsoil 7.5 wt or 10 wt fork oil and give them another try.  All I can say is that right now it's a back killer on every little tar joint in the road and forget it on bumps, you're launched off the seat...

Good luck.

whereas we have a considerable amount of complaints about insufficient and even defective rear stock suspensions since 09 I don't see a significant rise in complaints about the front end.

I would change back to the OEM front end only and see how that's affecting your ride.
