Cruise Control
« on: June 27, 2010, 05:35:54 PM »

Anyone have any ideas on cruise control for the Conv. My dealer says no go no way. I was curious if anyone had any ideas or info. I have developed some problems with my hand and cruise on a long haul would be a great help. I have looked at different throttle locks and I'm really not a big fan but if all else fails.

Well, now, I guess the MoCo has found a way to make this a reality on the 2011 Convertible.  They "flashed" the computer module and incorporated throttle-by-wire to replace the throttle cables.  I imagine the 2012 softails will all have cc at least as an option.  Other observations??

Checkout out the latest MY tech bulletin shows the new HDLAN setup being guinea pigged on the Softails this year.  That data control system is an entry not just to more integrated data/control management but more things to be managed and controlled.

It's easy enough to visualize that migrating to touring bikes and being able to add all sorts of integrated systems, displays and other toys/things.  Even on the bikes without all the real estate in the fairing it'll make it easier to add things.  Utilizing the same TBW and ECM system on the touring bikes would already put cruise control as an option on the Softails.  It's just a software switch at that point.  Let them get more heavily integrated ECM(s) and HDLAN all working together and we might be surprised what new options (and how much bandwidth) is coming down the proverbial pike.
