Sorry about the early termination but looked like quite the adventure.  I'm sure you got the bike fixed.

Quite a thread here Steve. Glad you got in some great riding! Excellent country on two wheels w/ a terrific looking partner. Sorry 'bout the oil pan and that it cut your trip short. Good news is that you kept it up and no injuries. Terrible, terrible news on your friends. Too many effed up people in this world.

Hope you get a redo on the trip.

Thanks for your thoughts Screamin.

Redo trip is already being planned.

Here's a the Kelson family, Mother, father, and two daughters rolling their 20 year old son to his finally resting place in style.
Never thought of a casket as being cool, but this one was awesome. Unimaginable any parent would have to go through this.

Wow,  What a story!   Glad it wasnt as bad as it could have been and you guys get to plan an even better trip.

As crazy as it sounds, Thank God it hit the oil pan instead of slashing the rear tire at 80mph.

Steve

Pics were georgous..... Guess it wasn't time to finish this trip. Hopefully next time.

What happened to those two young men is a real tragedy. God bless them, family and friends.

The morning the bike broke down we were really seriously torn as to continue on or head home. The services had not yet been scheduled.
Less than 30 miles later we coasted to a stop on the side of that road unscratched with a hole punched through the engine.
It was crystal clear message that told us what direction we should be heading. Later that afternoon the Friday services were announced.
It was certainly a week of extreme highs and lows. Saturday, I had the honor of hosting a pool party for the entire
Kelson crew at my house. All three generations with lifetime friends showed up. It was an amazing feeling being able to provide a gathering spot
for these people in this situation, when they were scattered all over town in different hotels. They seriously needed to let loose and they did!
Had we continued on to Yellowstone, none of these people would have crossed paths into my life and home.
Yellowstone wasn't meant to be this time around.

Really didn't plan on letting the thread drift into the LHC tragedy, but it became an undeniable part of the ride.
A big part of any ride is the people you meet and the impressions they leave. These people became part of my journey home.
