GPS Update?

I got my Zumo 660 for Christmas 2009 and have used it several times. My question is how often should you download new updates? I did not pay extra for the lifetime update program. Thanks

Are you speaking of map updates, or system (software/firmware) updates?

BTW - system (software/firmware) updates are free and you can use the webupdater software to check/download those.

Sorry guess I was just thinking about map updates, I was thinking they were both the same. Is the webupdater on the Garmin website for the free (software/firmware?) I don't think mine needs it just getting info for down the road. Thanks Fired00d.

With Garmin now offering Lifetime updates (see here - nüMaps Lifetime™) it's well worth purchasing them. This will give you four updates a year for the lifetime you own the unit. Worth is relevant to where you are located, where you will be traveling (using the GPS) as new roads are being added on each update. I've found w/getting the updates a few roads that weren't on my original maps have appeared w/updates.
