That would depend...

How do you define a "good road"?

"Crowded" would depend upon the day traveling and your definition.

Bottom Line

AIA is a straight road that rides along the beach and if you are going to ride it during Biketober Fest expect some potential delays depending upon the area.

Given the area and if you have never performed this ride...worthy of your time perhaps....

YUP NICE RIDE BUT......

1. Watch out for the "cotton heads" who either travel very slowly both north and south or pull out in front of you without warning or looking.

2. The salty ocean spray will stick to your nice clean bikes and if it isn't removed soon rust will occur.

3. The police in the various juristicions do like this route as well ...during Bikeweek and Biketoberfest because they can generate some real nice revenue for excessive speed in the various speed zones and for safety and noise violations.

4. Cars, trucks and motorcycles who become frustrated at the slow pace tend to try and pass at the wrong time and in the wrong locations. There have been some very bad (fatal) motorcycle accidents on the road both north and southbound because of this.

All of this information is intended to be a "heads up" to make you more aware and should not be a reason to change your route.

However if you should decide to go a different way then I suggest Route 1.

Regards and I hope to see some of you on Friday or Saturday.

Nice ride from St Augustine to Daytona but south of Daytona it sucks!  Lots of traffic, traffic lights and is very hard to follow because of lack of road signs.

A few years back we were going to Key West and though we would ride A1A since we had plenty of time and weren't in a rush.  Made it to somewhere near Melbourne and gave up.  Just too slow and too much traffic.  If you like that kind of riding it would be a good ride, but after a couple of days of that I needed to see 80 MPH again!
