I'd recommend the same tire, you can't beat the rain performance...to me, it outweighs the cupping (that the MoCo won't cop to) issues.  Also, run the front at Max Cold pressure 40psi and the rear at 41psi...it helps reduce the cupping rate.

Dang I'm glad you started this thread...I'm at 11.5 & the rear has been sounding and cupping since 8K. Hearing some chatter on the Dunlop Elite 3...are they making a fit for the SERG3?

Check with your dealer. There is a service bullitin replacing the rear tire due to defect ( cupping) .
If its the same tire , go get your free replacement.

Put Avon Cobra's on mine.  Wouldn't go back to that dealer chit if you paid me to.

Replaced with Metzeler ME88, higher pressure, but no noise and
better feeling/response of the road.

According to the Bulletin, the replacement is for the front only....  couldn't get the dealer to replace mine under the cupping "noise" issues....

I do like the way this bike handles with the stock tires, just would like to get rid of the cupping.   Doc

i went back to the stock tire myself. i tried the avon cobras too, 2 front, 3 rear tires. i loved the way they rode but short service life for sure. i wish avon made the venoms in our size. not much choice for the rear size on the serg.
