Is this normal Isolator wear?
« on: March 13, 2011, 05:30:00 PM »

I was in the process of completing the rear tire installation when I noticed some small cuts and wear marks on the rubber isolators that go into the IDS of my 08 SERK.  I have 40K miles on her and was wondering if this was normal and OK to reinstall or should I install new ones.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ray G.

They're not expensive... just replace them.

Stress there can only lead to stress elswhere like your belt drive... and belts are a lot more expensive to replace!

Ray:

Attached info might help.

I totally agree with murphy; replace them!

They look OK to me, but if you've got em out, why not replace them?

With 40K on them and you have it apart why push your luck. I'd replace them.

I'm a little embarrassed over the topic I started regarding replacing the 6 IDS rubber isolators.  The reason I originally posted the topic is because I was told they would cost $69.99 for the set.  So now I find out that it will be more like $19.00 using one of our generous vendors.  I was just scratching my head when I was given the first price.

Thanks

No need to be embarrassed... that's why we are all here, to lend a hand.

No stupid questions...
