Running Hot
« on: September 28, 2010, 08:38:04 PM »

Running hot, rear cylinder  shutting down. Sucks Sucks Sucks. I wanted to wait a little while before new pipes and a tuner but I think I am going to change  sooner than later. Is there a way the dealer can adjust the flow or is it locked in with the factory settings ?

Mine cooled down after the 1k oil change....still runs warm.  I want to get a tuner but have to sneak it past the wife.   :bananarock:

Guys, I am thinking about a V&H Power Duals and High Output slip ons plus either a Harley Pro Tuner or a TTS.  Would anyone recommend this set up or another?  In Australia, I think if you go for a TTS vs Harley pro tuner, then the warranty might be voided  Thoughts?

Wasn't there a way you could manually turn off the cylinder shut off 'feature'? Thought I read it somewhere.  Not that it's a good idea, but really sounds better with the 'potato potato' rythme at the stop light.... :huepfenlol2:

I had this exact discussion with my dealer in Melbourne. He said that the Oz bikes come delivered in a different state of tune compared to the US delivered bikes. He highly recommended going with the V&H hight output slip ons, Harley race tuner & a dyno tune. He felt the power duels were not required with the Aussie bikes until you started playing with cams & head work so as to extract more hp. I've gone this route which also saves me $$ to spend on some other goodies. You are spot on with the warranty voiding, HD Australia will cancel your warranty as soon as you install any of your own engine components. This sucks big time when you look at how much better priced items are in the US for example.
I'll keep you posted with results on the exhaust.
Cheers
Glen

Glen, the only issue is the Cat removal, which I think is an important issue and why I considered the power duals as well?  Thoughts and thanks for you input. :mango:

Hey Lance
My dealer who I've no reason to discredit claims that the US bike are tuned much leaner than the Oz bikes - thus creating the heat issue. You going down the path of cat removal will see us both in alternative directions, which is great as we will both see the results either way.
Cheers
Glen
