Progressive mono tubes in a 2003 flhrsei2
« on: July 27, 2010, 06:33:51 PM »

After 23k miles I felt like I was on a pogo stick when going over a series of bumps.  I had tried different viscosity fork oil before purchasing the mono tubes.  I went with the standard size so as not to reduce the ride height.  Spacers were used in the installation.
"pogoing" has stopped the ride is at least as good as when the old girl was new.  Highly recommend you change out the front if you are having similar problems.  Some have also had good results with Ricor so do some research.  It will cost between 300-400 to have them installed with new seals in the tubes.

I installed the same on my '04 Road King, along with Progressive 440's in the rear...even added the 'Bagger Brace'.  What a huge difference, and going to do the same on FLHRSE4.  I did the work myself over the winter...first time for any front end work and it went perfectly.  Had to buy a couple special tools, but saved over $200 and had a great time doing it.  The tools will work for the FLHRSE4 project, so I guess I will save even more on labor.

Glad it worked out for you. Living in Milton Freewater tends to make one self reliant

Boy, you got that right!!  The closest HD dealer WAS Kennewick, Wa, about 50 miles....It went into bankruptcy, and took their other dealerships in Spokane and Lewiston, ID with it.  The Spokane dealership has been purchased and re-opened...but 160 mile one-way trip.  Now the closest is in Yakima, WA, about 110 miles from my doorstep.  So, yes, it does make one self-reliant...to say nothing of enjoying it :-)
