What weather subscription are you using on your Zumo 665?
« on: September 13, 2010, 10:52:51 PM »

I am looking at the different weather options available on the Zumo 665 & my head hurts.  To me it looks like the best bang for the buck is the Marine Fisherman package.  But living in Kansas I am no near any large bodies.  The way I see it however is radar is radar and I will still get the Nexrad no matter where I am at.

Am I on the right track or so to say "All washed up?"

What package are others out there using.

Thanks

I'm using NavWeather. Didn't know there was anything else available. It's about $4 per month. Very nice to have when away from home.

I'm using a Garmin 478 and have use the Marine fisherman package for the last couple of years. I wouldn't be without it.  At little pricey but worth it.

I have tried t2 different Marin packages.  I called Garmin and they told me the Marin packages would not work.  They suggested I try the aviation packages.  None of them worked either.  According to Garmin the only one that will work (work as in display NEXRAD) is the $99 per month Ground Weather Package which also cost $100 to activate.

So to get NEXRAD I have to spend $1300 the first year and $1200 a year there after.  I rip off and I have left Garmin know about.

I feel your pain! I'd tried to add weather to my Zumo 550 and found that I could only get the basic's (forcast etc) no Nexrad. That's when i went with the 478 with the XM Marine Fisherman pkg ($29.99) You get live radar and a bunch of other info. You can do it  monthly so the cost is worth it (to me) I've not shut it off since getting it.
