need help freshening an old build
« on: October 10, 2010, 12:59:42 AM »

my '08 s.e. dyna has 21k on the build

going to bore .010" over and replace pistons

my question:  advance the 257 cams 4 degrees or get another cam

motor has 10.5 compression now

could reduce compression and use wood #7, t-man 590, mackie 590, or something similar, open to suggestions

it is using a bit of oil...need to see if it's the crank or ring/cylinder issue...still running the stock cylinders and pistons

and i'm over the horsepower wars...i want a smaller cam to move the powerband to the left

the heads are stage 4

oil use thru guides/stem seals or rings? Oil burning showing up on plugs? 21k is not really a lot of miles to be doing that. I have seen stem seals work there way off the guide or get bumped by the spring or retainer.

At 10.5, I'd suggest the new Wood 555 in that. :)

Skyhook,
Do you have Mike Cat's, in Kenner, do any Dyno work for you??
He calls on us from time/time for some machine work. Good guy.
