I rode a V-Rod Muscle the other day.
Last week I got a call from a salesman at the local HD dealer. A customer who had recently come into a lot of money bought one and the salesman directed him over to me for some instruction.
On Monday I worked with him on one of my old Kawasaki Police Bikes. He was real rusty at first, but it slowly came back and in an hour or so I had him doing 12β weave, 24β u-turn and 30β circle. He was feeling confident at the end of the session and wanted more instruction. He lives in Beverly Hills and since heβs not ready for the street he stores the bike at the dealer. For our second lesson he wanted to use the V-Rod and I picked it up for him at the dealer and rode it to the training location.
Although the V-Rod is not my seating style, it is a NICE bike. The engine is smooth and powerful. The bike rides well although that FAT rear tire took a little getting used to. The bike feels like it sits low to that ground and I was hesitant to really lay it over in curves for fear of scraping something. It does take the corners nicely. In slow speed drills the bike was not as easy to flick around as I would like (I attribute that to the rake / trail and fat rear tire) but that is something that one can learn and adapt to. He did well with the bike and was handling it in all the exercises with out problem.
I know someone makes a V-Rod / Road Rod, but I am surprised that HD does not put that engine in a touring package. It sure was strange to hear a radiator fan click on.
