Well let me second what everyone else had to say! 32000 miles and a bad lifter plus other things destroyed the motor! Been down for several weeks missing most of the end of our Eastern riding season.    Rebuild for $4700 or replace lifter for much less ?One of the Bike magazines has a article were the author of the article states anyone who puts any miles on these bikes should replace the lifters every year! Now isn't that telling us something about these lifters!  

Pretty sad commentary.  Spend more for a motorcycle than most folks spend on a car, then every year do a cam chest inspection to catch defective tensioners or premature oil pump wear due to wobbly cranks, and replace the lifters to hopefully prevent a roller failure which could destroy the engine.  Perhaps the MoCo should redesign the cover and cam plate to make them easier to remove (rename it an inspection cover), use adjustable pushrods in production to make the entire process easier, and add the whole mess to the maintenance schedule.

Did anyone decide which lifters are the best for long term. My Jim's 131 came back with jim's lifters and I'm thinking they ARE a little noisy and am afraid to leave them in to long. First install changed to HD ones and only one had a little mark and not so smooth roller when the rest of the motor was damaged except the low end which may have held together because I had the wheels welded from new.
