A Harley battery typically lasts 4 to 5 years. I am still running the original battery in my 2000 SERG! It will be 9 years old in may. Ive never had a problem but I think I'll change it next year to be safe.
As for the Gel batteries, they are designed to be able to be turned upside down with no spillage. Let's hope none of us ever has to test that!

Yep you sure didn't but I DID!!!!! It went south a few times.

Was at the dealership today and picked up a new battery. They have gone way up. Parts Manager said the price of lead drove them up. $120.00 after my discount.

I know they get top dollar for the batteries but it is what the owner wanted.  I like HD batteries just not the price. If I get 4 years plus out of the HD and only 2 years out of some other brand I still am out of pocket!!!!

New to the forum....A big Texas Hello to all...

Here a poor man's suggestion to get around the $150 HD battery...

Go out and buy a Riding Lawnmower battery....there are various cold cranking amp ones for sale...get the 300+ cranking amps one...You will have to "slightly" modify the battery trays "factory bent angles"...maybe modify the cruise control/fuse panel on the left side cover...BUt once you do it...and take your time...It will save you lots of dough over the years...dough that you can use on shiny fast parts on your wish-want list. Durable Sealed No maintenance $30 battery....THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ! ! !

Rich folk disregard this post...
