Whistler Cruisader Motorcycle Radar Detector
« on: November 16, 2010, 10:22:40 AM »

Has anyone installed this detector?  It says it is a 2 1/16 gauge size and I would like to know if I could replace the temperature gauge in the faring with this.  Would be cool if it would fit.

When I was looking for a detector...I found a few stories about how people had issues with the Whistler...just not working. I opted to FIND the HD detector and EG mount.
I'm still looking for a RG mount for future use.

Here's my response to another post (on the HD detector selling for $737 on E-bay):

I looked long and hard for mine...no way I'd sell!  The detector and both styles (EG & RG) of mounts are discontinued and out of stock EVERYWHERE. I spent hours trying to find a detector and a EG mount, calling dealers through-out the US ( Trev Deeley, the official CDN importer of all things HD, would not import them even though some provinces allow detectors). I'm pretty sure that I got the last new one in captivity!!( Dealer network now(finally updated!!!) shows that NO-ONE has one in stock....mine came from NOS Parts..they bought the inventory of some HD dealers that went under.)

They fit like nothing else......a mount molded to fit the dash....neat and clean...no wires.

The guts of it are a Passport 8500...a high-end high performance detector that is updatable by sending Escort. It's also ruggedized, water proofed, left-handed with bigger buttons for gloved hand use, brighter and louder than other car-based detectors.

I think they discontinued them to try and fix the high-speed wobble issues on the '08 and older baggers...LOL
