The NIM installation instructions are in this link:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J05169.pdf

Under the "Additional Parts Required" is the reference to bikes without the non-Ultra Overlay Harness (p/n 70169-06) requiring the 69200033 harness.

The extra XM harness referenced in your original post is intended to do what the 6900033 harness does which is to access the 35-wire pinout connnector on the HK radio and provide a communication link between the HK and the XM and NIM products.  You probably should buy the non-Ultra Overlay Harness, 70169-06 and forego the 69200033.  I say "probably" because I haven't personally installed these products.

Check-out the wiring diagram in the second post of this link to see the XM and NIM pinouts of the 35 wire connector on the back of the HK radio:

Good luck with your project.

Randy, glad you heard from Customer Service.  You were given good information.  The 76000024 is the "Navigation Interface Module" (although there isn't a module in the normal sense of the word), and the non-Ultra Overlay harness, 70169-06 is required to use both the XM and NIM; and, you don't need the 76000033 harness.

Carl did you mean I wouldn't need the 6920003.I think the dealer might have been trying to save me some money, after 500 for the xm and 150 for the one harness and another 150 fo the other harness, the connector would've been about 30 dollars but if I would have to mess with that thirty pin connector maybe the extra 150 might be worth it,Thanks for you help, apparently no one else knows anything about this or just didn't take the time to reply I appreciate your help Randy

These are the installation instructions for the XM:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J03640.pdf

If you look at page one of the XM inStructions, you need the non-Ultra Overlay harness (NUOH), 70169-06.  If you look at page one of the NIM instructions, you don't need the NIM harness 76200033 because you will have NUOH per the XM installation requirements.

Think of the NUOH as a large extension cord with multiple outlets.  The end that would plug into an electrical outlet has 30+ connections and plugs into the back of your radio.  Along the extension cord are multiple connectors that are dedicated to a specific function, e.g. rear speakers, pasenger controls, rider headset and microphone, and, the important one for your application, XM.  The NIM harness is an abbreviated version of the NUOH in that it has a plug for the back of the radio that is the same as the NUOH, but only has the wires and connector for the NIM; it has no wiring or connector for the XM.

To summarize, you need the NUOH for the XM per those installation instructions; and, since you'll have the NUOH, you won't need the 76200033 per the NIM instructions.

Really helpful discussion, thanks!

Here is the text from the HD website.  I have a 2011, FLHXSE2 and i am a bit confused by all of this. Is this saying that i need both the  76000024 and the 69200033 or that there is not a harness that will work with my FLHXSE2  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

Road Tech™ Navigation Interface Module

Available exclusively for Harley-Davidson® Road Tech™ zumo Navigation Systems. The Navigation Interface Module will provide an integrated link between the fairing-mounted Advanced Audio Radio and a Road Tech™ zumo 660 or 665 GPS Navigator. When linked, the music volume will automatically drop when a GPS spoken command is detected, allowing you to hear the command through the radio speakers or the 7-pin communications-style headset. The module attaches directly to the radio, is concealed within the fairing, and does not require connection to the "AUX" input on the radio faceplate, allowing you to listen to a portable music device through your auxiliary input. Kit includes adaptor cable that permits stereo sound from the zu¯mo's internal MP3 player or XM® Radio.

When HD says "Fits '06-later Touring models (except FLHXSE2)" it means the item won't fit the 2011 CVO Street Glide.

My local dealer installed the NIM on an SESG2, but it required the assistance of a senior manager at Harley in the parts and accessories department.

Carl - I've been all over the site trying to find a resolution to get my Zumo 665 to work with my FLHXSE2.  If I'm tracking your multiple posts accurately, I think that if I get (NUOH), 70169-06 harness there is a tail on that for XM.  Is that correct?
