Garmin zumo 220?
« on: November 19, 2010, 10:47:48 AM »

I received an email from Garmin showing a Zumo 220.  This is new to me and I don't remember hearing about one before.  Does anyone have experience with one of these?

Thanks - like the price of this one.  I have been toying with buying one for years; never get to ride enough for me to justify.  I probably just need to pick one and buy.

Be careful of this one as it does not have Audio out so the only way you will be able to hear the turn prompt on a bike is if you wear a BT helmet.

I've had one for about six months. It's identical in size to the nuvi 500. But is more motorcycle friendly. The on screen buttons are easier to touch. Has lane assist which I love in unfamiliar cities. Very quick and easy detachable cradle.

220 is a good unit, price is good as well. But the Road Tech 660 @ $799 less 20% from Jenni and then I think there is a $100 rebate again until Dec 24? makes it only $540. Plus it comes with home charger, car mount etc. I have 5 GPS units now, 660 is very nice, quality piece of equip I think.

I got my zumo 220 in april and travelled through many European countries without problems on several bikes and in classic cars; with an extra card for the US it showed last month all that was left of the historic 66......
I don't use telephone or headsets, just need the zumo to get me from start to finish; it works great, fast, with gloves in the rain, heat and has no problem with vibrations
