Heat Demon Grips
« on: December 07, 2010, 07:26:18 PM »

The heated grips on my 2010 SEUC did not work from the day I bought the bike (I have posted about this earlier), H.D REFUSED to warranty the grips even after writing a letter to corporate and talking to the area rep and three people in Wisconsin. The grips heat at 96 dergrees, so in the eyes of H.D.  --- they work.  What logic. My local dealer stepped up to the plate and put a new set on at their expense two weeks ago (customer satisfaction). Well I went on a toy run this past weekend in 20 degree weather, and guess what  --  the new ones DO NOT work after only one week. I have rea :nixweiss:d the postings about the Heat Demons, and would love to put a set on the bike, but reading what they say on their website, they do not fit my bike. I e-mailed Heat Demon, and the person that e-mailed me back did not even know what a CVO was. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO??????? does anyone know for sure if they will fit a 2010 SEUC or not? If they will not fit, does anyone know why ? This is right off of their website as of today. :nixweiss:

I just measured the removed bars off my 10 SEUC and the ID is 13/16" and the OD is 1"..  The ID of your bars need to be "reamed" to 7/8" and the Heat Demons will then fit.  The problem is you have to take your bars off and take them to a machine shop that can cut them to 7/8"..  I only remember one member who drilled his 09 SERG bars to 7/8" while still on the bike and he said it was a bear.

I put the Harley "reach/pullback" bars on mine and had a local shop ream these bars to 7/8" before I installed them in case I have to put the Demons in them if my grips fail.   Have had 3 sets of Demons on 3 different bikes and they work well.

Good luck.

I helped a buddy ream his bars on the bike with a hand reamer. It wasn't too bad, but we took turns at the reamer. Heat demons work great, but the bars have to be 7/8" id.

How deep do the bars need to be reamed? Would a 7/8" drill work?

All the way to the hole drilled out for the internal wiring.

We used a spiral reamer. And we had to ream them the entire length of the throttle assembly that goes inside the bar. Here is what we used

You need to ream the bars out 6" to fit the heat element.
