Chubbys on a CUSE??
« on: April 14, 2006, 03:04:28 PM »

Anyone put these on their CUSE? I'm thinking they'd be great but would be a job to install.

WO575 WILD 1 CHUBBY FLHT/C BAGGER BAR

Custom designed for the FLHT & FLHTC Electra Glide to enhance rider comfort. Depending on rotation when mounted 1.0" - 2.5" more end rise and 1.5" - 2.5" more pullback than the stock bars. An awesome look and they provide much better, ergonomic hand / wrist position for enhanced comfort, leverage and control. The grips are still positioned behind the fairing and they work with the stock cables, brake line and wiring. Pre drilled for internal wiring, knurled and show chrome plated. Width 34.5

Twolane... if you have them, let's hear about the good/bad. Thanks!
From catching up on posts the last couple of days I believe he (Twolane) is up to his elbows in grease about now installing cams, and other mods. I've been tempted to call him to see how install was going, but don't want to disturb him. Hopefully he will have some updates/pictures of how install went of Cams/Oil Pump/Lifters/etc went today.

Elbows are cleaned up now D00d.  Bike hits the dyno tomorrow so am waiting through the evening in near peeing-myself-anticipation to see how she feels after getting dialed in on the roller coaster.  All went well today though so I'm a happy camper.

As to these handlebars; several of us here have them on the SEEGs.  A few used a bar from Flanders too that (if memory serves) brought things even slighty closer to the rider.

The Flanders bar is a standard diameter bar.  The Wild1 575 is larger diameter bar and, in my opinion, really looks significanty better on the bike.  The wider diameter makes pulling the wire inside a bit easeir too.   But honestly not all that different there.

They were changed not for the looks but for the feel though.  The stock bars for me were really uncomfortable.  Pain right between the shoulder blades.  The 575s brought the bars about a couple inches closer to me and made the angle of the wrists much more comfortable.  Those two things in combination solved the back pain; immediately.  They look great too.  But that was a bonus.

Before anyone throws a "worthless without pics" smiley at me here is what the bars look like installed.  And, for the record, the install is quite a chore.  Without much interruption it was over four hours.

Thanks Twolane!! BTW, did you have to get special bars to accomodate the hydraulic clutch? I noticed in the ad they talked about it. Were you able to use all your stock cables and hydraulic lines?

They look great on your scoot!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I have the 575 bars on my SEUC. I love them! They feel great, gave me just that extra little bit I needed to sit back and relax.
As for the install, it was a piece of cake! I took it over the my local dealer and paid THROUGH THE NOSE to have them do it. Somehow they managed to do it without changing the front brake cable. It's tight, but it works, and looks good!

The SEUC is a little more difficult then some of the other bikes. With all the internal wiring, including the heated grips, it is tough just to get the wires OUT of the old bars without causing any damage, not to mention re-routing all the wires back through the new bars. My HD dealer (Glendale Harley in California) is great and a chubby's dealer. Thay have alot of experience doing these, so I let them and I am glad I did.

SE, just tell them you've got a hydraulic clutch and they'll fix you up with the extra dimple in the left bar.  Only cable or line change that will need to be made is a 2" longer front brake line.  Everything else works.

Thanks Twolane and thanks to all who have responded. This is one of the reasons I love this site ... real world experience and honest, informed feedback. You guys (and gals) are the best!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
