HID 35W vs 55W Ballasts?
« on: January 28, 2011, 12:28:49 AM »

I see HID kits are available with either 35W ballasts or 55W.  Which is preferable and why?

I bought 35W ultra slim digital ballasts/kit from http://www.motorcyclehidlights.com/  Installed them yesterday and am very happy.  The original bulbs were H11's and H8's but the HID version of those is the same bulb.  They seem to be a quality product (German made) and were 100% plug n play.  Installation was very straight forward.  The lights look much better than the HD LED lights IMHO and are very bright.  It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison with the LED system but for my money I think HID's are the way to go.  Kit was $150.  The DDM slim kit they had is not currently available and it looks like it was removed from their website.  It also looked like a nice product and was available at a lower price than what I bought but I'm happy and can see much better at night now!
