Display for head units, FLHTCUISE6
« on: February 03, 2011, 01:51:29 PM »

So, have the Ultra with Harmon-Kardon radio. The "red'" display during the night is pretty weak.  I can't really see anything on the display.  I have tried the adjustment within the function of the radio, but does not seem to make the letters more visible with either side of the adjustment.

Anyone have any idea or solution so that I can see the display?

Put Dakota digital guages (Blue) in and couldn't leave red background on radio. Had new blue background put in by IronCross to match and couldn't believe how much clearer screen was. Looks goood also.

You should be able to adjust the light level so that you can see it clearly. If you can not you may have a problem with the radio. If it is still under warranty take it to the dealer. Or send it to Iron Cross and change the color.

Have you looked in your Owners Manual under "Adjusting Display Contrast"?  You cannot adjust the light intensity, but adjusting the display contrast will make a big difference.

I have.... and have adjusted it -- to both extreme of the adjustment, but at night, the contrast of the black against the dark red is not enough to clearly see. Setting it right in the middle of the adjustment is best, but still cannot see clearly.  In fact, I find it absurd that the soft key pad on the face of the radio does not light up!

Ehhhh...maybe I am just in need of "specs" !

The HK radio display on my 09SEUC is the same as yours. It was replaced once under warranty last Aug. Right before warranty expired in Oct took it to dealer and they said it was working "normal". I can't read the display! But mine looked just like a new bike we checked on the showroom floor. I am seriously considering having Iron Cross Audio change the display color. And yes I do need "specs" to read, menus, the newspaper, this computer screen, so some of it is my fault...
