Removing end caps
« on: February 27, 2011, 12:25:07 PM »

Hi Chaps

This may appear a bit stupid, but here goes.

I've got a 2009 SEUC4 (UK model) which has a set of of standard US mufflers that I got sent to me.  The mufflers have been fitted with 2" fullsac baffles.

The end caps chrome is bubbling so I want to replace them.

I've undone the three torx bolts around the end cap but nothing moves when I try and get the end cap off.

Is the bolt holding the fullsac baffles also holding the end caps on as well or is it just corrosion.

Anyway, what's the best way to get them off without damaging the mufflers?

Any advice on what other endcaps will fit apart from p.n. 66079-06?

Thanks in advance.

After you remove the three torx scerws the end caps should pull off. Try spraying them with penetrating lubricant. A twisting motion should get them moving...

Nothing holding them except for soot and rust, penetrating oil and let them soak overnight and they should twist off
