Blonde Homeowner
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:55:38 PM »

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive  double-pane, energy efficient kind, and today I got a call from the
contractor who installed them.

He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and  I still hadn't paid for them.

So, I told him just what his fast talking sales  guy had told me last year, that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for  themselves! Helllooooo? It's been a year! I told him.

There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just  hung up.

He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.

That reminds me of a story I heard from back in the 70s when a car dealership had a sale going on and their advertisment was "You can have this car for a song". Well a guy walks into the dealership with a guitar and starts playing. Everyone is amused. When he finishes he points to a car on the showroom floor and says "I'll take that one please". After the salesmen discovered his "angle" they all got into an up roar. The guy threatened for false advertising claims and all that. I don't know what the final outcome was but I remember hearing about the story.

I remember a similar true story except the advertised payment was bananas, the buyer showed up with the fruit and left with the car. :bananarock:
