I use a bicycle most days to get to work, its only 5mins ride, and by the time I have suited and booted to ride my motorised cycle I would already be at work, plus 5mins wouldnt do the engine any good, solution could be to change jobs to one further away or leave this job earlier as I do to grab the early evening weather........

I bought my bike to ride... rain or shine
Plus I get free bike parking at work and I am cheap.

I want to get my moneys worth out of my bike, and that does not happen sitting in a garage.

Just my $0.02

8 miles one way to work, as long as it's calling for good weather I ride, I bought the bike to ride, and I'll jump at any chance to do just that, even if its 1 mile. Also I skip the food at lunch and get in 45-50 mins of riding, then take my good ole time on the way home. Ride it, Life is to short not to.

If I was going to buy something else to ride to work it would be a little beater Toyota or other jap, that way no weather worries. But I, like most, ride my CVO if its less that 50% chance of rain & over 30 degrees.

If I stretch my commute I can make it 20 miles.. but normally the commute is 17... and yes, I ride every day... if I need tools for a work project I fill the saddlebags and the tour pack... if I need something bigger than that I write a work order and make someone else do it!

I've thought about a "work bike" before also. Just in case my company makes me park my work truck. I would not go with the Yamaha. My choice would be something along the lines of a used Road King or Street Glide very likely it would also happen to be a CVO.

I would buy another harley like a road king but for 3k I can get a "work bike" like a yzf and run the crap out of it. I live in calif. and can ride almost all year long so 15,000 on a bike is not unhear of. Plus wear and tear on my truck is not an issue.

"To each, thier own" Personally if I get the chance to ride, I ride. I have two CVO's and a lowrider. The lowrider is a great bike, the oldest in my fleet and has the fewest miles. Point being I love my CVO bikes and I'm not saving them I'm enjoying them. Just my $.02

I thought about this situation a couple years ago. Simple solution: Quit the job and ride all the time!! (I did)

I had thoughts such as that but more so for those days when it was a chance of rain and I didn't want to ride the 10 miles to work and get the bike filthy. Now I have a take home car it's a moot point. Plus the fact (thought I'd say it before somebody else did) it has been "said on the internet" that I don't ride. ;) ::) ;D
