Help Please
« on: March 06, 2011, 09:17:24 AM »

In haste (before leaving for Daytona), I hooked up my communications sets for rider and passenger. Failed to bring my manual with me! I have my speaker switch forward. I get music, passenger gets music but claims only one earpiece (I am deaf in one ear so I don't know if mine is one or both). These are the Harley sets with the wires you must lead around the helmet liner and list for $189. Just purchased one because one came with the bike. How do we talk to each other? Can't get the communications to work. Really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Ed

Can't help you, my bike doesn't have comm... but you might get more help if you make the subject of your thread more specific... lots of folks who could help may overlook such a generic subject.

Good luck & have a fun trip!

you have to turn intercom ON on the radio - then set vox and volume

when one ear quits working its almost always a cable plug issue

each hk radio function has its OWN volume - cb, am, fm, xm, int, etc

and each SEAT has its OWN volume - so front and back can be different volume

i set my vox off and use ptt to talk

if int is stuck at zero - push your ptt button and HOLD it and then run the volume up - you can see the volumes of the front and rear make sure neither of them are zero - once you have that solved you can fool with vox - there is a update that makes vox work better but i dont use it and just use ptt

later

Just be careful when using PTT (push-to-talk) for intercom.  If you CB happens to be on then when you use PTT not only will your intercom be activated but your conversation will also be broadcast over your CB.  And the volume setting on the CB is only for what YOU hear - it has no bearing on what is broadcast, that is fixed and cannot be adjusted.
