Oil leaks . . .
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:24:58 PM »

I just introduced myself in the "New Member Introduction" section. I'll repeat the question I posed there since I'm sure some of you don't read all the introductions. I'm going to guess that this sub-forum is probably the most frequently visited by many of you.  I'm considering the purchase of a new CVO bike and this is my first question to the current owners:

I've read about a number of the earlier 110 engines having issues with oil leaks (primarily from the rear cylinder). Is that still a problem with the new engines or has Harley corrected that problem. Any other tips, suggestions, etc. about the FLSTSE2 would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Ron

Welcome to the site!

Rear cylinder head gasket leaks were a serious issue in 2007 and early 2008.  The MOCO has since corrected the problem...

You don’t stop riding because you’re getting old, but you get old when you stop riding.

My '08 CUSE was built late May, '08, two weeks AFTER the changeover to the new head gaskets.  I have never had a leak; she is now at 43K miles, no head leaks.
