Looking for a chopped tour pack hole pattern template
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:21:58 PM »

I'm putting this out there to see if any of you can help me. I have the King tourpak ordered, but since I am mounting it on a detachable solo rack, I did not want the King backrest pad with the arm rests......Soooo, I have ordered a chopped backrest pad to mount on the King tourpak. I am looking to see if anyone out there has the chopped tourpak that could possibly make me a hole template to drill the holes on the King.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Best of luck to ya- I asked around as well, and nobody had one. Funny though when I bought my King TP, of course the holes for the King TP pad were pre-drilled, but I got a template. I think it was a fluke that I got one, because many said they didn't get one.

I had to do the best I could with marking the end of the chopped pad bolts with grease, laying the rear top of the pad flush on top of the box, and pushing the pad in from the center to have the grease impress the hole marks. Trouble is, it's not an exact science because the bolts are so long that the pad doesn't rest flush with the pak, so it makes the grease impressions on an angle, if all that makes sense.

Mine didn't turn out perfect, but I don't think it's noticable to anyone else.

I have a similar question.  I have the King Tour Pak on order and will also have the solo mount setup (minI want to remove the padded arm supports).  I'm assuming you ordered the backrest from Chopped Tour Pak?

I think the King tourpac already is drilled for the mounting  and arm rest pad at least mine was.

Yes, I have the chopped backrest pad. Just got a call that the tourpak came in today. You do have to drill holes to use the smaller backrest and then plug the hole where the arms would go. I could copy the template I am using if you like.

HD part number 52898-98A ($149.95) Chopped T-Pak Pad Smooth. I went with the smooth because I put a Danny Gray Speedcradle on and it is smooth.  Went and picked up the tourpak and backrest pad tonight. Looks awesome, although I am going to have to get a replacement for the backrest pad as it has a wear place on the top that looks shiny......very noticeable and yes, I tried cleaner on it and it is permanent.  I'm not a perfectionist (well, maybe) but is it too much to ask when paying this kind of money for a little quality control???

Awesome, thanks.  I'm waiting on my Danny Gray ButtCrack Solo seat and I will go with the smooth back rest also.
