New pics of bike in it's ORIGINAL form
« on: March 25, 2011, 01:14:32 PM »

After a month of searching for NOS parts to replace a few tarnished chrome pieces;
I replaced the front rocker box cover, front turn signals, both handlebar risers, added a chrome lower belt guard, and flushed the stock tank and installed it back on the bike.

Nice looking fxr3 blue flame. Many original parts changed: carb, pipes,...but many of these hard to find. Virtually no stock pipes out there...and turn signals can't be found either. We all make some mods to suit us, i've tried to keep mine as original as possible. The ride of this bike is what i enjoy. Just turned 10k miles on mine last week. Enjoy your bike ...its one of the 64 out there.   Dave

Thanks fellas  :2vrolijk_21:

Nice looking fxr3 blue flame. Many original parts changed: carb, pipes,...but many of these hard to find. Virtually no stock pipes out there... Just found me a brand new take off set on eBay today for $150. I already had the stock headers & shields, but I wanted a more "perfect" set. Looking for a good set of slip ons now, as I assume the stock mufflers will be too quiet for me.......and turn signals can't be found either. Already found a brand new NOS set of 4 on eBay as well. Also found a NOS fender support on there too. We all make some mods to suit us, i've tried to keep mine as original as possible. The ride of this bike is what i enjoy. Just turned 10k miles on mine last week. Enjoy your bike ...its one of the 64 out there.   Dave
I just gave the carb a tune, (since I purchased it from a guy who lives at 4K feet elevation and I live near sea level) and rode it, and my RK today....... Man what a difference in the two bikes. The FXR reminds me a lot of my old sporty........with a much beafier motor, that is :)

What is the story behind the tank? Did you have a second one painted? Love the effect!
