Oh, I know there's more than one volume control - it plain doesn't work, even with the COM volume right up.    And it appears I'm not alone - I rang Iang, also a member tonight, and his is the same.

Yes, I'm pretty certain that it will modulate AM or FM with just the firmware.

Ok just thought I'd mention the obvious because mine works(AM) and I forget to change volume a lot. This is a real interesting scenario I hope you folks get to a solution without too much bother. I guess I can't even imagine dealing with HD from another country. Best of luck!
