Hi,

I am the trip planner this year for our 6th annual group trip.  This year we are doing a 2,500 mile loop from Michigan along Lake Ontario, St Lawerance Seaway, Lake Placid, Bar Harbor, Laconia, Catskills along Penn Route 6 back to Michigan.  I never thought of getting a gift, but after thinking about it, I decided to get small hand held walkee talkees for everyone.  Not everyone has an Ultra with communication capabilities, someones always staggling or hanging back, this would be a great communication tool for our trip.  Cheap and you can buy them in sets of 2 or 4

Word of caution... If you buy the "cheap" version of the personal radio services walkie talkie, you will be disappointed. We tried a cheap set a few years ago and they were completely worthless after about two blocks distance. The upper end radios work much better, around a mile, but those will cost in neighborhood of $60 per pair... If you consider this cheap, then all good,, stay away from Uniden, Stick with Cobra...If money is no concern, have you thought about the bluethooth head sets??? These would be much safer for your riders in motion. The PRS radios will be useless, and I wouldn't even try, to use them while riding...

The BEST things in life are free, in fact they aren't even things. How about just acknowledging friendship and love? Seal it with a pact to get together again next year and do something like it again. Some of the best rides I have been on have ended with a handshake and a hug.

Actually, I never considered a gift!  This thread led me to consider something for the group.  Chit, reality is they should by my a@@ something for planning the trip!  Just kidding, great group of guys, I won't buy them anything unless I can find something simple, funny, and appropriate.  We all chip in $350 and get a visa card to pay for meals and drinks rather than splitting the bill every time, plus it gets us on the road faster with one person paying the bill all the time.  This is our 6th trip, and this is the 3rd one that I have planned.  My gift to everyone is a well planned 8 day road trip mapped out and programed riding some of the best routes the area has to offer!

Just good company is enough........maybe a cool one after ride is over.

I agree, buy the 1st drink.  Here's something you can passout to each of them before the ride and enjoy with a fine cigar when done.

How about ordering a picture book with a selection of the best pics from the ride?
Agreed, it can't be handed over during the trip, but receiving this a couple of weeks later would be a great surprise and extend the experience.
Also nice to flick through over a beer when you meet at other times during the year.

Don't postpone until tomorrow what you can do the day after that. Ride on!

Last year we did the Woodward Tour on our way down to PIGEON forge, and had some great aged scotch whiskey and a cigar overlooking the smokies.

Guess I missed the memo, I thought guys rode for the sake of riding with compadres - wind, sights, smells, beer - all that chit.  So next time I'll look for the  bath size strawberry shampoo in a gift basket for my riding buds.  The guys I ride with just know that we are there for each other - no more expected or offered, but there if needed.

Just buy the first round ...

I found these at some truck stop someplace. They are legal tender and can be used for cash, but the $1 bill cost $5. The riders appreciated them and it reminds them of our time together.
