Hey Doc
The pond out front must be filling up. How close to your driveway is it now ? I'm looking forward to when the rain stops, so I can check out Hodges, Henshaw, El Captian and the other reservoirs in Dago county. Nice to see them full for a change. Oh yeah, I wonder how much this is bring up the level of Lake Mead. Vegas has gotten twice the rain we have. It'd be nice to see that fill back up a bit. It's been 30-40 ft below Hoover Dam for going on 5-6 years.

We are up three and a half feet, with about thirty feet of shoreline gone. My neighbor had to go out and tow his docks back this morning. The sky just broke though and we can see the mountains for the first time in several days and it looks like a good amount of snow fell last night. I used to have a place at Lake Mead and it is the last one they fill up to act as a reserve in case the rain keeps coming and there is no other reservoir to put the water. They probably won't let it fill up till Spring with the snow runoff.
Hope you guys are snug and dry and enjoying the holiday season.  Lou and Terry

Nice pics with Big Bear in the background I'm guessing?

Only 999 more wet years like this and we could be getting closer to being out of the drought!  ???

Hey Doc,
If I can pry Matt off the couch, maybe we'll ride up and visit you. It'd be nice to sit on your deck and sip a beer beside the lake. I miss that.

They sure didn't predict this one...wettest December ever. The wakeboaders were out in front of the house yesterday celebrating though.  :P   Doc

The water is up 7 feet now and California is going into its "green season". There are only two seasons here, green and brown.  Doc

Now Doc, as a man of your years and experience and having spent your life doing what you do, wouldn't you ammend that to be Green, Brown and Burn !

The other edge of the sword that is full reservoirs, lakes, ponds etc is that everything is lush green and growing like mad. All this beautiful green will turn brown and become fire fuel if we have a long hot dry summer (when don't we ?) Maybe we'll dodge the bullet this October but another winter of heavy rains and lush foliage will portend another nasty wildfire season in 2012 - - wouldn't you agree ?

On the plus side, it must be sooooo great for you and Terri to sit on your deck and see Elsinore within 30 yds of you vice the 150 that it was last summer. I promise to drag Beagle, Suzie and Linda up to visit you before I head back to Maine for the summah.

Actually, those old enough know that there are five seasons in CA:

1.  Drought

2.  Fire

3.  Flood

4.  Quake

5.  Riot!

The Shake and Bake State for sure. It is beautiful right now with green hills and snow capped mountains, but those fires a couple of years ago just about took out San Diego. We had the Martin Mars stationed on the lake and it was cool wakeing up every morning to the sound of four giant radials going by the house on the way to put out fires in SD.
