So to sum up here MKW you are getting 2 likes from me and JDO who are both using on TBW/similar to your bike.
Twolaner is currently and still using on a think a 2001 RG.
sadunbar has not used for three years and only recent exposure is a friends bike.
Both of these guys have very valid posts and you should consider all info before you make a decision.

Make no mistake they did have the worst customer service I have ever experienced and you will find some who will carry that baggage to the grave.  I know cause I am like that.
My recent experience is this has changed.

For a while here on this site you would get pounced on for mentioning any tuner other than a TTS.  Now the band wagon has shifted to Rev Perf EMS.  Both of these (rev perf EMS, TTS) are great products and you should look at them as well.  Do some research on other sites as well.

Fulsac and Kuryakyn both offer packages that have all the work done for you but if you plan on changes later you will need to get a dyno tune again.

Happy hunting.  Best of luck!

He also needs to think about the exhaust situation. it sounds like he is using a 2010 style pipe which means he can't use a T-Max or the RevPerf EMS without switching to an 09 pipe(unless his pipe has both sets of O2 bungs already installed).

Another thing to add (that should not bother me but does) because it starts 100% quicker/better than it did is the tmax does not use the automatic compression releases.

Might be a factor if you plan higher compression later.

That's more than a minor aside.  Cylinder pressures can't be "tuned away."  Easy starting helps.  But pressure is pressure.  T-Max doesn't use the releases not because with some engine configurations they're not a good idea it doesn't use them because.... well....  :nixweiss:

Honestly the Thundermax can do a fine job.  So long as compression isn't too great in conjunction with ACRs and, all too commonly, so long as you've got a competent tuner at hand to get you started who is good with the Thundermax software.  Short of those things, however, it's a crap shoot unless you're willing and able to spend quite a bit of time dialing it in to get you started.

I do have it on the old 2000 Road Glide, and was glad to have it as it was the best product out there to replace a failed Marelli system 250 miles from home one weekend.  The base map as it was described in their library was a close match to my engine specs too.  Except it really wasn't.  Not that the bike ran bad.  In fact I'm sure many would have declared victory after the install, thought it was good, and kept right on going.  But the map left a lot on the table.  No Thundermax tuner within any acceptable range so too the inordinate about of time necessary to really dial it in.  Now the bike runs well and I have all the benefits of the onboard diagnostics the bike never would have had otherwise.

Not complaining about the product, per se.  But it is often not nearly as easy as "bolt it on and ride."  And for a time a couple years ago they had a real problem with aggressive maps causing significant and even damaging detonation.  Since, along with the ACRs, they also don't use the ION sensor to handle detonation issues that can be a real problem also.

I have not dynoed mine yet, but with the TMax the bike runs real strong. I'm happy with it :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks all.  I appreciate the comments.  I'm still looking at the Thundermax as an option but still need to do some homework.  All the post here are very helpful.  TTS is still an option but none of the dealers here is SA TX have used one before which I find hard to believe.  If a dyno guy (or gal) isn't familiar with that tuner than no matter how good it is it will be under-utilized.  Has anyone used the TTS with the V&H power duals and high output slip ons?  If anyone ever comes to SATX I'll buy you a beer or two.   :drink:

If any of the dealers have ever tuned with the SERT, then they can tune with the TTS. Since the old SERT was/is the old TTS product it will still tune the same as they did before. TTS just gives them more and better options to work with.

I hear you Steve but I'm at the mercy of the folks wearing the hearing protection in the dyno cage............just saying.  It looks like I may be taking a trip to the Dyno Difference in Dallas and give them a crack at tuning my ride.  Thanks eddfive, I look forward to doing business with you
