SE Pro EFI Race Tuner coming next week...
« on: April 09, 2006, 07:06:56 AM »

My next mod is the Screamin Eagle EFI Race Tuner (SERT), and I ordered it today from my local HD dealer. This is the one mod I know nothing about and it's probably way over my head as far as techy tuner knowledge goes. I putting my SE Fat Boy's future in the hands of a Technician armed with a Dyno. I have researched various products, and the SERT is the one I had to go with.

I am hoping I get to learn some from this expense. I mean, there isn't any chrome so how do I install it? Just kidding. I really want to know if this is a mistake before I install it and get lost in the performance combinations, whatever that really means. I understand this is an "ultimate tool" for fine tuning at the track. My track is the streets and freeways of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles California.

I just want to make sure I am not in way over my head when what I really want is my perfectly tuned SE Fat Boy so I can hot rod everywhere within reason. I'm probably never going to the race track ( unless it's the US101 North bound ) except as a spectator/fan.

Any opinions?

The tuning possibilities will be endless with the Race Tuner.  There are a couple of links on the net to download the pdf manual for the tuner.  Over 100 pages if I recall.  Probably like learning Photoshop...........
Biggest expense at the beginning will be to the dyno man.  Make sure he installs the program to your laptop.  I don't know if the install is single install only or if the connection to the bike is one bike only, but you definitely want to be able to play with it at home.
I'll come by after you have it all sorted out and marvel at screenshots.

Kona, good luck with the RT, I am really happy with what it did for mine. It took three tries but I really feel its good now. Its feels like a different machine. This is my final Dyno sheet.. ( until the cams go in).

I'm no racing tech, but you got to be impressed with that Dyno run. The torque and horsepower from the base 103" is really just scratching the surface when it comes to performance engines, but wow, what an impressive stock foundation. Sometimes, my faith in American Manufacturering and Consumer Product Development is totally restored when I look at (and ride) our bikes.

It just goes to show ya, we USA prone buyers may just be some of the luckiest people on the earth; some of us more than others, granted; but I am very fortunate to have acquired my SEFB CVO.

::)i just bought the last s.e.r.t in the dallas ft worth area and i had to fight my way out of the store, they say no more or going to be sold becouse of e.p.a, i had mine installed and dialed it in with laptop, i also have 2 in 1 d&d headers, it runs so much better!!!! but as soon as i get more miles on my 06 c.v.o fat boy i might go ahead with dyno.  if it runs any better than now i will be amazed, because the s.e.r.t and pipes really opened it up!!!!!!!!!  oh by the way you can only use the s.e.r.t to your bike, when you put it on it mothers to your v.i.n and no other bike can use it, all i can say is GOOD LUCK getting one now, thanks to e.p.a. So, I finally picked up my SERT on Saturday, right? And I go with a big smile on my melon face to the son of a female friend who has the Dyno and the knowledge to install it, tune it and so

purple haze, i was looking at putting a set of those wires on as well since my stealer has a 20% off on all screamin eagle parts for the month of may (only paid $320 for the SERT) but the parts guy told me the bike would run like chit if i used them because the 8MM wires have some diode resistor thingamajig in them, i dont know what the frick he is talking about and why he's blowing smoke up my a$$
