Intercom squeal in da rain
« on: May 16, 2011, 10:48:43 PM »

Last year on the ride to Pala, we went through some really heavy rain several times. Each time the intercom would start a very LOUD squeal. I think it was actually feedback, headset outputs looped to the mic inputs. Anyway, the only way to stop it was to shut off the radio. So loud it hurt the ears. I checked headset jacks and they didn't appear to have water in them. After an hour or so of no rain, no problem.

So the question is where was the water getting in? Any ideas? I'm assuming the water was getting across some contacts or components somewhere in the intercom system. Are all the intercom electronics in the radio or is there a separate module somewhere? Anyone else have this problem? With the weather the way it's been we'll no doubt run into rain on the Tahoe trip.....    :nixweiss:
