Luckenbach visit w/friends
« on: April 28, 2006, 07:28:27 PM »

Just returned from our second annual Texas Harley Riders Hill Country Run.  Great fun and great people. Saturday's ride had 33 bikes.
Left to Right   Groove Dog, Originator of the Texas Harley riders site, me, Hippo, who many of you know from other sites as a great builder, rider and good guy, and Cycle Miler who can build fast motors and ride fast also. Sunday we went for a fast paced cruise thru the 3's, Highways 335, 336, and 337 @ 75 and 80 mph, and these are not straight roads. My fairly new bike was quart low on oil the next morning when I checked it.  LOL

GC,   The wife and I were in the area last weekend, stayed at Koyote Ranch on Hwy 16 just south of Kerrville.  As you saw, bikes everywhere!  Hats off to you if you can run "the 3's" at 75-80...my cajones aren't that big!!!  Glad ya'll had a great time.

Yea TX, my normal pace isn't that fast, especially two up. You're not kidding about so many bikes there. We saw several groups larger than our 33. On Saturday, we tried to stop at the Frio Canyon MC stop, but it was too crowded, we just waited till Sunday AM.

GC, we were riding  the 3's the first weekend of April with about 45 bikes.  Didn't ride it at the speeds you spoke of but enjoyed it just the same.  Did you try lunch in Utopia?

John, no we didn't stop in Utopia. Normaly we OD on BBQ @ Coopers, Salt Lick, etc.  This year we cooked steaks at the Frontier Inn as the owner loaned us his big cooker and the next night we went for Mexican food. Maybe you can join us next year. It's usually the third week if April just after tax time.  Sounds like you guys had a prety big group also.

GC, they call it  the Bluebonnet and Pie ride.  We are looking for bluebonnets and eating pie, from the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, to Utopia, to the Koffe Kup in Hico.  Unfortunately, the last two years, the flowers have been slim.  But the ride is great.  We usually go the first weekend in April.

Maybe we can hook up next year.

LOL on the bluebonnets.  On the Willow City Loop, which is famous for its bluebonnet blooms, the cactus won.
