Hello all,

I wanted to get your all' opinion on who loads the map software on their Zumo built in storage and who loads the software on the SD chip.

I just purchased a new 8 GB HC SD chip.

Currently loading the map (updates) to the unit itself. I had to get rid of all the voice files, images, and icons (that are used to show your location) that I wasn't using to make space for North America. It will come a time in the future that the maps (North America) will no longer fit on the unit itself at that time I'll load Canada to an SD card.

Loading the 2012 Map I don't have enough room for the full US map.  Did you delete the additional files while the Zumo is connected to the computer or on the Zumo? 

Are you still running the map from the Zumo or SC Card?

From Garmin;

Mapping releases after 2012.10 have exceeded the memory capacity of many of our devices.  This means you will not be able to load full coverage mapping of North America or US and Canada regional mappings to your device.  In this case, we will have to create more room on the device for the lower 49+PR, or a smaller region, and load the remainder of the mapping to an SD card.  Please use the two article links below to clear more room onto the device and how to load the remainder of the mapping to an SD card.

European maps reached the limit 2009 if combined with some poi and routes. Switched the install on my old 550 to a good 16 GB card then. Install was easy and I can't say it slowed the zumo down.
