Seat life

I have an 05 Sundowner seat,this is the 3rd bike I have used it on. My ? is do they break down after useing for a few years?

If it's open celled foam they certainly will.  Closed cell foam will last much longer and hold it's shape and support where it's needed.

Hi Older Guy, I had my the stock seat from my 09 SEUC reshaped (because of my height 5'9")  so I could reach the ground and have both feet flat. So far it is working good, the seat heater still works fine and the gel pad the upholster shop installed feels fine even on a long trip.  I didn't have any issues with my stock seat except for height and that was really only with a passenger and luggage. I don't think a gel pad can break down and so you know the entire job cost me $450.00. I have a post somewhere on here with pictures. The passenger section was not touched. Good Luck CAHDBIKER

I got my 2010 SEUC replaced under warranty a few weeks ago because the stitches were tearing along the sides in front. I have 50k miles on the bike. I was amazed at the comfort level of the new seat compared to the old. I'm convinced they do break down sooner than you might think.
