Moving post, so much so that I joined up with PGR.  It is the kind of organization that deserves more support.

Today was a very inspiring day for me.  The PGR was invited by Sgt Jergen's family to attend his purple heart ceremony.  While he still has a long way to go, the progress that he has made was incredible!  He is relearning how to talk and regain control of his arms and hands, and is strength training his thighs to get ready for prosthetics.  He was aware of everything around him and gave everyone a "thumbs up" after receiving the medal from his commanding officer and a soldier that was in the Humvee with him when they ran over the bomb.  Afterwards, he wanted to come to the parking lot to see the motorcycles.  What a special, inspiring person!

As a bonus, we had the newest member of the Patriot Guard Bay Area there:  Eagleye07 rode his first 2 PGR missions today!  Thank you Ken!

Thanks Ernie.

I can't say how much this means to me after so many years.  It was a pleasure to welcome home Sgt Nick Parks yesterday morning.  That was the fun stuff.  Last night  Brian Christopher Jergin's Purple Heart ceremony touched me to the core and in ways I did not expect.  I too was a Combat Medic and served six years with one year in Nam.  So meeting Christopher hit me like a ton of bricks.  Since I was on my first day with the PGR, I was given the honor of presenting the PGR Challenge Coin to him when we were in the parking lot.  Dang, I was getting ready to take off ten minutes after the ceremony and they rolled Christopher out the front door.  No way could I leave then.

The memories of this first day of PGR missions is going to stay with me for a lifetime.

Thanks Ernie for your post. I am a member of American Legion Riders Post 200 and PGR. We go on missions almost every week since the Riverside National Cemetery is so close. Its quite a honor to serve our fallen warriors and their families this way. We also sponsored three active duty families for the holidays in making sure their wish list was filled, this economy has been tough on them also. Quade Harley threw a big event where 27 local military families were honored and given their gifts, but at the very end every kid got a new bike. Noting happier than seeing a youngster with a new bike.
