changing exhaust, again
« on: June 17, 2011, 07:21:08 PM »

I have Bub 7's with quiet baffle put on 3 years ago, now the chrome is peeling off the end caps and Bub won't do anything about it, not even a discount on new end caps.  I'm thinking of going back to the look of stock.  I always like the beefy look of the stock 08 muffler.  I want to install the fullsac system, just can't decide on the 1.75 or 2.00, just want it quieter but not as much as stock, is there much difference between the two?  The Bub's have the 1 3/4 to 2" increase in their head pipes which means I need to change the head pipes, any suggestions there?  I have good performance now but am willing to sacrafice some performance for a little more quiet and I think better looks.

I have a SERT with high flow air cleaner on an 08 SEUC.

p.s. The illustration on removeal of the stock baffle was GREAT, thank you for that.  I already removed both baffles.

Ray Z, I went with the 2.25" Fullsac baffles in my 09SEUC. They sound good, not even close to what I would consider loud. I think the most important thing about the Fullsac's is they have a good low tone, not high pitched. From all the posts I've read on here I thought and expected them to be a lot louder. The only time mine come close to loud is when you really run up through the gears. I am enjoying hearing the XM radio at freeway speeds. Sound is subjective. The Rush pipes on my wifes Road King are way louder than my Fullsac's. Good luck.

I've had both 1.75" and currently 2" both are relatively quiet in comparison to other manufacturers pipes and not a real big difference themselves.   2" very slightly better performance and sound to me.

Does the insulation in the muffler stay?

I have the 1.75" and left the wrap in the mufflers.  Bike is louder certainly than stock and is just right for me.  Personally, I don't like a real loud bike especially with the tunes.
