I word about the Premium Oil Cooler Kit (26082-05A).
The installation of the oil cooler is simple and strait forward and went great, but when you do things against your better judgment, is when you run into problems.
After the installation, I started LG (lover girl) and as expected everything was well no leaks.
Being the perfectionist that I am; I noticed that the oil lines looked as if they were going to rub the down tube and I feared that after extended use it would rub a hole thru one of the oil lines.
Here’s the rub, and I KNEW BETTER than to do this, everything told me to NOT do this and I debated it for over an hour while doing other stuff.
So here I go and I loosed the lines connecting to the adapter plate and trimmed about 3/8” from the lines, once I remove the lines they became soaked in oil, exactly what I DIDN’T want to happen.
The lines would not tighten up; they would twist back and forth once tightened I ended up taken everything off and cleaning it with contact cleaner to get that “snug fit” that I was looking for.
Even thought the lines would have never came off, (because of the beveled ends on the spigots and probably would have never leaked), I am really anal about stuff like this.
The only reason I am bringing this up, is to save some possible aggregation for the next guy.
Is getting ready for vacations suppose to be so stressful?
The moral of the story, nothing takes five minutes.
