IPOD interface suggestions
« on: July 06, 2011, 11:19:26 PM »

Installed the NIM module and the IPOD interface this past weekend all when well except that the IPOD only plays out of the left channel all works fine on XM, CD or radio,  with helmet plugged into the bike jack works the same no left side sound using IPOD and also has no navigation commands. I'm not sure even where to check next and looking for any suggestions?? :confused5:

Check to make sure all of the pins are seated fully into the 35 pin connector (28). Look at the end of the connector all of the pins should look alike and you should be able to see the ends of the pins.

Check the wire you installed in chamber 31; that's the iPod right channel.  It may not be fully inserted even though it may feel like it is.

You can check your wiring by looking at the wiring diagrams for the FLTRUSE that has both the ipod and NIM modules, although the wire colors may be different, in this thread:

Also, HD had a mistake in their iPod interface kit instructions regarding the wiring assignments; it was corrected in the revised version issued 9-14-10 IIRC.

There is also helpful information on inserting wires in the 35 wire connector on the manufacturer's website; just click on the "Instruction Sheets" pdf link:
